Pew Report on Medicaid Coverage of Inmates

A new report by the Pew Charitable Trusts explains how states and counties are taking advantage of opportunities provided by the Affordable Care Act to enroll large numbers of inmates in Medicaid to improve continuity of care, and to receive Medicaid reimbursement on inmate hospital stays. Arkansas, Colorado, Kentucky and Michigan report combined fiscal 2014 and 2015 savings of $2.8 million, $10 million, $16.4 million and $19.2 million, respectively, according to an April 2015 study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
