Centurion Makes Scholarship Gift to Foundation

The NCCHC Foundation has received a generous gift from Centurion Health, making Centurion a Gold Partner in the foundation’s Partners in Correctional Health Annual Giving Society.

Centurion is a leading national provider of health care and behavioral health services to incarcerated populations and justice-involved individuals. Their gift will establish a scholarship fund to allow deserving students interested in the correctional health field, correctional health professionals, and especially early-career nurses and mental health professionals, to attend National Commission on Correctional Health Care conferences during 2021. The scholarships cover travel, lodging, and conference fees.

“Centurion is pleased to partner with the NCCHC Foundation to cultivate the continuing education of the correctional health care workforce,” said Steven H. Wheeler, CEO of Centurion Health. “This scholarship will serve as an investment in future correctional health professionals, including mental health workers and nurses who provide compassionate care in demanding environments.”

Annual leadership gifts like Centurion’s ensure an ongoing foundation of support to help move the field of  correctional health care forward. Says Jennifer Riskind, NCCHC Foundation director, “We are deeply grateful to Centurion for their partnership and support. Centurion’s trust in the Foundation will help demonstrate the importance of corporate leadership and support our mission, including providing continuing professional education to correctional health professionals.

As the philanthropic charitable arm of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, the NCCHC Foundation, founded in 2020, champions the correctional health care field and serves the public by supporting research, professional education, scholarships, and patient reentry into the community.
