STD Testing for Adolescents and Adults Upon Admission
Sexually transmitted diseases are highly prevalent among persons entering jails and juvenile facilities. Studies have identified stratified risk factors for individual diseases based on geographical location, age and gender. Identification and treatment of STDs offers a cost-effective opportunity to prevent complications and reduce transmission of STDs in jails, juvenile facilities, prisons and the community. NCCHC's new position statement presents recommendations for STD screening and testing services.
