Raised Stakes in Correctional Health Care Boost Certifications in Second Quarter

COVID-19 raised the stakes on health and safety in jails, prisons, and juvenile detention facilities in 2020, spurring many facilities and health care professionals to work harder than ever to provide quality health care. Increased expectations also pushed many to achieve certification as correctional health care professionals (CCHP) in 2021.  

In the second quarter of 2021, Certified Correctional Health Professional status was attained by 136 individuals. Specialty certification was earned by 12 mental health professionals (CCHP-MH), 14 registered nurses (CCHP-RN), and two physicians (CCHP-P). One experienced professional demonstrated the depth and breadth of her expertise and experience and achieved advanced certification (CCHP-A). The CCHP board of trustees congratulates all of them.
