Indoor Air Quality: Advances in the Science and Applications for Correctional Settings

Dr. Louis Tripoli will discuss recent advances in the study of transmission of airborne pathogens, drawing upon his experience in correctional health care and as the Command Surgeon for U.S. Indo-Pacific Command over the Pacific Theater. This presentation describes how scientific thinking changed during the coronavirus pandemic and shares lessons that were learned from the challenge of the pandemic as it unfolded in the intensely congregate military and correctional settings. It will also recommend methods to mitigate airborne disease transmission for congregate settings.

About the Speaker
Dr. Louis Tripoli, Rear Admiral, US Navy, retired, and former Command Surgeon for US Indo-Pacific Command during the start of the coronavirus pandemic, will review information regarding airborne transmission of pathogens and what can be done to mitigate risk. Starting in early 2021, Dr. Tripoli became the principal medical advisor to the American Hotel and Lodging Association on these topics. He brings expert knowledge from that sector, as well as a wealth of experience in infectious diseases and correctional medicine.
