CCHP Exams Now Available Online

Time and space have been conquered as travel, time of day, and time out of the office are no longer barriers to taking the CCHP exam. The exam for this important credential for correctional health professionals will be available online, starting August 1. “We are very excited to announce that all of our exams – CCHP, CCHP-A, CCHP-MH, CCHP-P, and CCHP-RN – will be available in this online format,” says Matissa Sammons, MA, CCHP, vice president of certification. “The online option is especially important now while health care professionals are being cautious about COVID-19, and it’s going to be available in the future as well.”

Candidates will take exams on their own schedules 24/7 at their home or office. The exam is Windows- and MacOS-compatible and requires only a computer with a web camera and microphone and Google Chrome. A “readiness agent” walks each candidate through set up and a security check. During the exam, a proctor remotely oversees security and integrity via the candidate’s web camera.

Sammons adds, “NCCHC has made a giant step forward in using cutting-edge technology to offer the exam securely, safely, and conveniently. Candidates can still take the exam throughout the country at PSI Testing Sites and NCCHC conferences, so each candidate has the opportunity to take the exam under conditions where they can excel.”

Participation in NCCHC’s Certified Correctional Health Professional program signifies leadership, commitment, and expertise. Certification recognizes the mastery of national standards and the knowledge expected of leaders in this complex, specialized field. The CCHP credential is a symbol of achievement and leadership, and is highly valued not only by participants but also by employers. In addition to the CCHP, registered nurses, mental health professionals, and physicians can pursue specialty exams: CCHP-RN, CCHP-MH, CCHP-P. For those who wish to show even greater mastery of correctional health knowledge, the program offers an advanced credential, CCHP-A.
