NCCHC Board Approves Updated Position Statement on Naloxone in Correctional Facilities

In light of new reports on lives saved in jails, the NCCHC Governance Board has updated the NCCHC Position Statement on Naloxone in Correctional Facilities for the Prevention of Opioid Overdose Deaths.

The updates include data on the number of lives saved by the use of naloxone in Rikers correctional facility and in Los Angeles County’s North County Correctional Facility.

Additional changes urge making naloxone kits and training available to all people in the facility, including those who are incarcerated and making the kits available to visitors.

All NCCHC Position Statements can be found at ncchc.org/position-statements.
