P-D-01
Pharmaceutical Operations
(Essential)
(Name change from "Pharmaceuticals" to better
reflect standard’s focus.) |
Formerly
P-27
The former "Pharmaceuticals" standard is now
split into 2 essential standards focusing on operational
and clinical issues, respectively. It is the intent of
this standard that the facility’s pharmaceutical
services are legally and properly operated. The
operational issues covered in this standard remain
basically the same as in previous versions. (See also
new P-D-02.) |
P-D-02
Medication Services
(Essential) |
Formerly
P-27
This new essential standard contains the clinical issues
carved out of the former Pharmaceuticals standard. This
standard intends that prescriptive practices are
commensurate with current community practice. The
content and requirements for facilities regarding these
clinical issues remain basically the same. (See also
P-D-01.) |
P-D-03
Clinic Space, Equipment, and Supplies
(Important) |
Formerly
P-28
An intent of this important standard is that the
facility provides sufficient equipment and space to
support the health services program. The amount of space
and the configuration of the room(s) needed for the care
and treatment of patients may vary with the size of the
facility and the kinds of services provided on site.
Expectations for equipment for dental screening v
equipment required in a dental operatory are given.
Minimum expectations for space, equipment and supplies
are specified. These remain essentially the same as in
previous versions with the addition of trash containers
for biohazardous and "sharps" materials. |
P-D-04
Diagnostic Services
(Important) |
Formerly
P-29
An intent of this important standard is that the
facility provides the necessary diagnostic services for
patient care. This standard remains basically the same,
but the compliance indicators highlight issues and ask
explicitly that the RHA maintain documentation of any
required licenses or certifications of on-site services;
and that procedural manuals for on-site services include
protocols for calibration of testing devices.
Clarification was added that the basic testing equipment
listed as expected to be at each facility is required
only in facilities that have full-time health staff. The
CLIA certification or waiver is a recommendation, not a
requirement. |
P-D-05
Hospital and Specialty Care
(Important)
(Name change from "Hospital and Specialized
Ambulatory Care.") |
Formerly
P-30
This important standard intends that inmates have access
to necessary hospitalization and specialty services.
This standard remains basically the same, but the
requirement for treating facility to provide a summary
of treatment given with follow-up instructions is now
explicit. There is documentation of current licensure,
certification, or inspections as required in the state
for specialty services provided on site such as dialysis
or mobile ambulatory surgery. |
