Position Statements
The mission of the National
Commission on Correctional Health Care is to improve the quality of health
care in jails, prisons and juvenile confinement facilities.
Toward that end, NCCHC offers resource publications, technical assistance and
quality review, educational programs, and certification for
correctional health professionals. NCCHC also publishes health services
standards and operates a voluntary accreditation program for institutions that
meet these standards. Occasionally, issues
arise or medical/technical advances are made that the standards
do
not address. Accordingly, NCCHC has adopted position statements that, along with the published standards, may
assist correctional facilities in designing policies and procedures on these
matters.
