These instructions provide guidelines and forms
to ensure your presentation is in keeping with national continuing
education standards.
The intent of Updates in Correctional Health Care: Emerging Issues
is to share information on current trends and innovative
solutions, along with research findings and best practices. All
abstracts will be published in the proceedings manual on CD-ROM.
Presentation and speaker information will be listed in the
conference preliminary and final programs. For your convenience,
all meeting rooms will be equipped with a podium, microphone,
screen, head table and LCD projector. Speakers are responsible
for bringing their own laptops. To order additional equipment
(e.g., a TV/VCR), contact
education@ncchc.org.
With the exception of preconference seminars, all presentations
are scheduled for Monday or Tuesday, May 23-24.

Your presentation should conform with
these policies of the NCCHC education committee:
- Content must be related to health care provided in correctional settings.
- The topic must be timely and relevant.
- Content must be accurate.
- Content must be based on scientific modalities of diagnosis or therapy
(if applicable).
- The presentation must not show preference for one product or service over
another unless there is a clear scientific or objective basis to do so, or unless
the presentation format allows for a fair presentation of alternatives.
- Corporate support, if any, must be disclosed.
- If applicable, the presentation must be consistent with
NCCHC standards and promote their use.
- Presenters' credentials should be appropriate to present the
subject matter.
- The presentation should be sufficiently in-depth to require the full time allotment (usually one hour).
- Presentation goals and objectives should correspond with the
conference educational goals and objectives.

affect incarcerated individuals, including HIV,
hepatitis, hypertension, diabetes, mental illness
and substance abuse
• Describe current
legal, ethical and administrative issues and ways to
prevent potential problems that arise in
correctional settings
• Employ new
practices for the treatment of major health care
issues in order to better manage common medical and
nursing problems found in correctional settings
• Express increased
understanding of common correctional health care
issues by exchanging ideas with colleagues about new
developments in specialty areas

Speaker Registration
All presenters are required to register for the conference by
April 1. A
special rate of $190 is available for presenters. If you have co-presenters,
please forward the Speaker Registration Form to them.
