National Conference Green Initiative

Like you, NCCHC is concerned about the environment. According to Meeting Strategies Worldwide (2003), a typical 5-day conference for 2,500 attendees will use 90,000 cans or bottles, 75,000 cups and 87,500 napkins. In an effort to be more environmentally responsible, NCCHC is taking the following steps:

Reduce the amount of handout materials by producing a CD-ROM instead of a printed proceedings manual
Reduce the number and size of paper products in the registration packet
Use recycled paper whenever possible
Recycle registration packet inserts
Purchase badge holders and bags made from 50% recycled material
Create a waste diversion system for exhibitors’ paper materials
Reuse signage
Seek sponsors to provide reusable water bottles and set up water stations instead of handing out disposable bottles
Donate leftover food and sample products to charities like America's Second Harvest or Gifts In Kind International
Work with hotel to create a strict schedule for heating systems, cooling systems and lights
Encourage exhibitors to ensure that giveaways capture the spirit of the Green Initiative
