Like you, NCCHC is
concerned about the environment. According to Meeting Strategies
Worldwide (2003), a typical 5-day conference for 2,500 attendees
will use 90,000 cans or bottles, 75,000 cups and 87,500 napkins. In
an effort to be more environmentally responsible, NCCHC is taking
the following steps:
•
Reduce the amount of handout materials by producing a CD-ROM instead
of a printed proceedings manual
•
Reduce the number and size of paper products in the registration
packet
•
Use recycled paper whenever possible
•
Recycle registration packet inserts
•
Purchase badge holders and bags made from 50% recycled material
•
Create a waste diversion system for exhibitors’ paper materials
•
Reuse signage
•
Seek sponsors to provide reusable water bottles and set up water
stations instead of handing out disposable bottles
•
Donate leftover food and sample products to charities like America's
Second Harvest or Gifts In Kind International
•
Work with hotel to create a strict schedule for heating systems,
cooling systems and lights
•
Encourage exhibitors to ensure that giveaways capture the spirit of
the Green Initiative
