The intent of the Correctional Mental Health seminar is to share the
most innovative developments, treatment practices and case studies with
our attendees. Only with your participation can we make this
happen.
These instructions provide guidelines and forms
to ensure your presentation is in keeping with national continuing
education standards.
The goals and objectives for your presentation must be consistent
with the goals and objectives of the conference:
• Demonstrate an increased
understanding of pervasive as well as emerging mental health problems within correctional populations
and related management issues
• Identify best practices in
evaluation, treatment and management for incarcerated individuals
with mental illness
• Enhance skills necessary to manage
mental health care delivery in correctional settings
• Develop mental health programs that incorporate
the NCCHC standards for mental health services
In addition, your presentation
should conform with these policies of the NCCHC education committee:
• Content must be related to health care provided in correctional settings.
• The topic must be timely and relevant.
• Content must be based on scientific modalities of diagnosis or therapy, where appropriate.
• The presentation must not
show preference for one product or service over another unless there
is a clear scientific or objective basis to do so, or unless the
presentation format allows for a fair presentation of alternatives.
• Corporate support, if any,
must be disclosed.
• If applicable, the presentation must be consistent with the philosophy and mission of
NCCHC, including its standards, position statements and clinical guidelines.
• The presenters' credentials should
be appropriate to present the subject matter.
• The presentation should be sufficiently in-depth to require the full time allotment (usually one hour).
