understanding of pervasive as well as emerging mental health and
substance abuse problems within correctional populations
• Identify best practices in
evaluation and treatment modalities for incarcerated adults and
juveniles with mental illness, substance abuse problems and/or
co-occurring disorders
• Enhance skills necessary to manage
mental health care delivery in correctional settings
• Develop comprehensive mental health programs that incorporate
the NCCHC standards for mental health services
CCHPs: Certified Correctional
Health Professionals may earn up to 12 contact hours of Category I
continuing education for recertification.
Nurses: The National
Commission on Correctional Health Care is an approved provider of
continuing nursing education by the Illinois Nurses Association, an
accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s
Commission on Accreditation. NCCHC designates this educational
activity for 12 contact hours (INA-CE Approval Number
0211-4026-0802).
Physicians: The National
Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide
continuing medical education for physicians. NCCHC designates this
educational activity for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1
Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the
extent of their participation in the activity.
Psychologists: The National
Commission on Correctional Health Care is approved by the American
Psychological Association to offer continuing education for
psychologists. The National Commission on Correctional Heath Care
maintains responsibility for the program. NCCHC designates this
educational activity for 12 hours of credit.
Social Workers: This program is approved by the National Association of Social
Workers (Provider #886452976) for 12 continuing education contact
hours.
