NCCHC Accreditation Staff Attends National Institute of Corrections Roundtable
NCCHC Accreditation Specialist James Martin, MPSA, CCHP, attended a roundtable meeting on Feb. 3 to discuss medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for justice-involved populations at the National Institute of Corrections. The meeting was held in Washington, D.C., in collaboration with the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Office of National Drug Control Policy and the Executive Office of the President.
NCCHC’s expertise was called upon to help cultivate the guidance needed by the corrections field to enhance services at all criminal justice intercepts. Participants conferred with other representatives regarding MAT and promising practices, shared experiences from the field, helped determine clarity around guidelines and formulated next steps.
Attendees included the National Institute of Corrections, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Advocates for Human Potential, Sam Houston University, American Jail Association, Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons, New York University, National Institute of Justice, National Sheriffs’ Association, National Institute on Drug Abuse and Bureau of Justice Assistance.
